Physical therapists work to improve, restore, and maintain movement and activity so that people of all ages can live at an optimal quality of life. Physical therapists are highly effective at providing alternative treatments to avoid or prolong surgery as well as other pain management techniques without the use of prescription medication. Our licensed physical therapists treat patients one-on-one for 60 minutes.
Pilates is a comprehensive way to develop the body through core strength, flexibility, balance / coordination, and mind / body awareness. Pilates uses springs to provide resistance. Pilates emphasizes smooth, controlled movement with concentration and proper breathing for muscle alignment and strengthening. Everyone can benefit from Pilates, regardless of age or activity level. We use incorporate Pilates and Pilates equipment for rehab purposes as well as offer private Pilates sessions.
Cupping is an effective way to release trigger points, myofascial adhesions, reduce pain, and reduce swelling. Cupping works to suction soft tissue which allows for increased blood flow and circulation. Cupping can help with lymphatic drainage, scar tissue breakdown, releasing myofascial adhesions, and even migraine relief without prescription medication.
ASTYM® (A-stim) treatment sets the standard for soft tissue therapy. It regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and removes unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. This technique is effective for treating tendinitis such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis, as well as other soft tissue dysfunctions.
Physical Therapy is an effective tool for scoliosis that can help reduce curve progression, delay or prevent surgery, improve posture, and improve lung function. Those with scoliosis have an asymmetric posture due to the curve of the spine. Physical therapy helps identify the asymmetries and strengthen or stretch the appropriate muscles in order to restore an aligned posture. Physical therapy treatments also focus on rib mobility and deep breathing to help with respiratory function. We use Pilates equipment to facilitate deep breathing and core connected breath work. Both of our physical therapists have personal experience with scoliosis and are trained to assess scoliosis and abnormal movement patterns.
Therapeutic taping treats athletic injuries, musculoskeletal disorders, and neuromuscular disorders. Taping is done to support muscles and joints in a way that allows unrestricted movement. Taping can also help with lymphatic and circulatory flow to help with swelling. Taping can be done in conjunction with other therapies such as manual therapy, cupping therapy, and therapeutic exercise.
Our physical therapists are trained to assess static and dynamic posture. Poor posture can contribute to neck pain, headaches, shoulder problems, and numbness in hands. Often times neck stiffness and tightness is correlated with poor posture. Those who spend 8 hours a day looking at a computer or prolonged sitting would benefit from a posture evaluation. We will make ergonomic recommendations to improve your work station.
We provide equipment to help you manage your condition at home. This includes TENs units for pain management, back, knee, and ankle braces, as well as posture straps for posture re-education.
Our therapists are experienced in treating patients with Parkinson's disease, MS, post-stroke, vestibular disorders, balance disorders, and migranes. We spend a full hour with each patient so that they can get the treatment that they deserve. Our patients feel comfortable and safe with the proper supervision provided by our licensed physical therapists.
