What Is a Headache?
Your comfort and well-being matter at Tri Physical Therapy. Headaches don't have to control your day. Headaches are one of the most common reasons people seek relief. A headache can feel like pressure, tension, or sharp pain in the head, neck, or face. While some are mild, others can disrupt your daily life. There are several types of headaches, and each feels a little different:
- Tension headaches often bring a dull, aching pressure across the forehead or back of the head and neck.
- Migraines are more intense and may include throbbing pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light or sound.
- Cluster headaches bring severe pain around one eye and often happen in patterns or "clusters."
- Sinus headaches are linked to nasal congestion and facial pressure.
- Cervicogenic headaches start in the neck and radiate to the head, often tied to posture or injury.
Pain may appear with other symptoms, such as neck pain and headache, eye pain and headache, or jaw pain and headache. To understand which type affects you and how to relieve it, schedule a consultation at Tri Physical Therapy in Phoenix, AZ.
How Are Headaches Treated?
Headache treatment at Tri Physical Therapy focuses on restoring proper movement and reducing muscle tension. Physical therapy can ease nerve irritation and increase circulation in areas that may trigger pain. Our therapists use targeted methods such as soft tissue release, joint mobilization, posture training, and corrective exercises. These hands-on techniques help relieve tightness in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. These are effective ways to get rid of headaches for the body without relying only on medication.
What Are the Causes of Headache Treatment?
There are many causes of headaches, and they aren't always obvious. Some begin in the muscles and joints. Others come from stress or changes inside the body. Poor posture, such as sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, can also trigger headaches. It's important to look at all possible sources of pain to find lasting relief. Common sources include:
- Muscle tension in the neck and shoulders
- TMJ disorders or tight jaw muscles
- Visual strain from screens or bright light
- Prolonged sitting with poor posture
- Lack of sleep or poor hydration
- Sudden spikes in blood pressure
- Hormonal shifts
- Environmental factors like allergens or noise

Tri Physical Therapy Reviews
I’ve been using Tri-Physical Therapy as part of my ongoing care and the staff has been wonderful to work with. They listen to any concerns I may have and make adjustments as necessary. My treatments has been a very collaborative approach.
I have been a PT patient here as well as I use their medical masseuse services. This is a top notch PT experience if you are in need of help. I love that they incorporate Pilates into their regiment (if you need it)I regularly have issues with tight muscles, knots in my shoulders etc so having access to a true medical masseuse that hones in on your problem areas is incredibly helpful. I don't need a fancy relaxation room etc- I just want someone who knows what they are doing to get me straightened out and Anna did a great job. $95 for a 60 minute service.
I love coming to Tri Physical! Until about 2 months ago I didn’t realize there was such a thing as medical massage that the public could access & so when I was able to get in & see Anna - first of all, holy smokes I feel so good! But also she’s so nice, very knowledgeable and a really great therapist all the way around!
I’ve been coming here for years and the office is full of amazing people! Great physical therapist and wonderful massage therapist. I wouldn’t go any where else.
The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Making the first appointment was super easy by using their online chat system. The medical massages definitely helped increase my range of motion and reduce my pain. The massage therapist used scrapping and cupping, which were extremely beneficial. Also, each massage therapist listened to my concerns, provided necessary treatment, insight into what could be causing my pain, and shared at home remedies.
