What Is Hypermobility?
Hypermobility occurs when joints move beyond their normal range of motion, often due to lax connective tissue or overly flexible ligaments. While some degree of flexibility is common and harmless, hypermobility can lead to joint instability, chronic pain, and an increased risk of injury if left unaddressed. It can affect people of all ages and may make everyday activities uncomfortable or difficult. At Tri Physical Therapy in Phoenix, AZ, we offer personalized treatment programs to help you manage hypermobility and get back to living life on your terms.
How Is Hypermobility Treated?
At Tri Physical Therapy, our licensed physical therapists begin with a comprehensive evaluation to understand how hypermobility is affecting your movement, strength, and daily function. From there, we design a personalized treatment plan that focuses on stabilizing your joints, building muscular support, and improving your overall body awareness. Our goal is to help you move more safely and confidently while reducing pain and the risk of further injury.
What Are The Symptoms Of Hypermobility?
Hypermobility can present differently from person to person, but some of the most common symptoms include:
- Frequent joint pain or aching, especially after physical activity
- Joint instability or a feeling that joints are "giving way"
- Recurring injuries such as sprains, strains, or dislocations
- Muscle fatigue and tension from overworking to compensate for unstable joints
- Poor coordination or difficulty with balance
- Chronic stiffness, particularly in the morning or after periods of inactivity
- Soft tissue injuries that seem to heal slowly or recur frequently

Tri Physical Therapy Reviews
After a motor vehicle accident, I was devastated that I couldn’t attend my reformer Pilates classes. During a late night search, I came across Tri PT, specifically because they offered Pilates-based physical therapy something I didn’t even know existed, but it was exactly what I needed.I had the pleasure of working with Gillian, and she was an absolute JOY! She created modifications that allowed me to safely continue Pilates on my own, encouraged me to try mat Pilates as I recovered, and was exceptional with both manual therapy and dry needling. She truly understood my goals and helped me regain confidence in my body.Chloe, their patient care coordinator, was amazing throughout the entire process. She regularly checked in on me and made scheduling appointments so easy through text, which was incredibly convenient while recovering.Sara, the massage therapist, was a rockstar. She always made me feel comfortable, listened to where I was hurting, and focused on the areas causing me the most pain. Every session made a noticeable difference.Recovery after my accident was physically and emotionally overwhelming, but this team made me feel genuinely cared for every step of the way. I recommend Tri PT to everyone who asks about my recovery because these women played such an important role in helping me heal. I can’t thank them enough. ❤️
I'm so happy I found Tri Physical Therapy! I injured my back and I've been for both physical therapy and medical massage, it's been a huge help. I've decided to continue the treatments so I can get stronger and limit future issues - can't recommend enough!
Such a welcoming and friendly clinic. Karen is so experienced and knowledgeable. She helped me identify some alignment issues and showed me how to correct with stretching and strengthening with the Pilates reformer and bands. You will not find a better PT!! Thank you.
This facility is clean, well run and well managed. Each time I've been there I've felt welcomed. I particularly felt like Jen helped me so much with medical massage post accident. She really changed how I see my healing and understanding it's a whole body and mind approach .. not sure just the massage. I also see Kate for Dry Needling and she's great, too. She does some cupping on me and is always down to share ways I could improve my movements to have better results and less pain. This place gave me a lot of hope with chronic pain. Only thing I can say is that it's pretty pricey but I that's subjective.
Great people and great service even though I had one session before I got moved to a different state there massage therapist was able to help me with my back problems
